Cunnamulla P-12 State School has adopted 'Stymie' and in doing so became a 'Stymie school'. This is a decision that has been made to support align with and support two of the schools core values - Be safe and be respectful.

Stymie is an online tool that allows schools to proactively support students to, without fear, anonymously say or report anything, anytime, anywhere about bullying and incidents that may cause them to feel unsafe or hurt.

Stymie empowers and encourages our students and bystanders to do the right thing by standing up for themselves, their friends and their local school community.

To use Stymie, you need either a mobile phone or computer. You can then alert the school about people, or yourself, who you believe are being bullied. The notification can be about physical, cyber, emotional or family-related bullying. The information can include where the alleged bullying happened, when, how many people are involved and how often it happens. You can also upload files which contain evidence such as text messages, screenshots of Facebook pages, Snapchats or instant messages. Photographs and videos, however, cannot be uploaded.

How does Stymie work?

  1. Stymie allows bystanders to send anonymous notifications to the College about someone who they believe is being bullied or is a potential risk to someone.
  2. The notification interface allows bystanders to upload evidence and give an outline of the incident(s).
  3. The School receives the Stymie notification in the form of an email alert and appropriate members of staff review these emails for them to manage the situation according to our policies and procedures.
  4. The notifications are encrypted, anonymous and confidential. Stymie does not store any information.

Please take a moment to find out more about Stymie. We encourage all parents and carers to visit the site as there is a parents section with important information for you to consider.

Let's work together to help eradicate bullying in our school community.
